Más Aventura!

7 07 2008

TCC Adventure & Expedition Event Productions and Euforia Expeditions are teaming up to bring some daring adventures for the not-so-ordinary adventurers out there. Euforia is putting together a series of packages for racers and fans to travel around Costa Rica before, during and after the races organized by TCC. Rafting, kayaking, canyoneering, mountain biking, trekking… Any adventure related activity you could think of.

Just keep in mind that TCC will be holding the 5th edition of it’s main event January 2009 and reservations for packages must be arranged soon. TCC is also organizing the Island Run in Bocas del Toro, Panama. If you haven’t had the chance to read about “Bocas” this is the time to do so, the place is hallucinating! The Island Run is scheduled for April 2009.

Now, we’re just getting back from the Primal Quest. Andrés, our expedition director, spends most of his time away from the office in adventure photography suicidal gigs and he happened to be one of the photographers for this year’s edition of the Primal Quest, which took place in Montana, USA. Well, the guy is more psyched about adventure sports than ever before.

Considering he has organized several adventure races in the past and continues to assist the production of events in Latin America, he has talked everyone into bringing back all the fun for the adventure racers. We will be packaging all the original training expeditions and packages for adventure racer’s families with which Euforia took its first steps back in 2004.

So yeah, everything from mountain biking adventures to multi-day kayak expeditions, from looking attractive after 6 days in the mountains to keeping your job after successive adventure absences, you name it. Andres has some surprises up his dry fit sleeves he will share with you all once he flies his a^$$% back to the office.

Adventure for The Coastal Challenge and the Island Run in Bocas del Toro, and some nifty goods for adventure racers from around the world. Stay in touch, don’t be a stranger, nor a spectator!

Sergio Sánchez

Sergio Sánchez stepping out of the water from a “short swim around the bay”.

A long time has passed by since our last newswire, and I can honestly say that plenty of great work has been developed and put in action as I write. The development of new projects is what gives us the force and determination to continue providing services and alternatives that foment sustainable tourism and responsible project development.

I wanted to share a quick note with you all, one that brings peace of mind to Euforia and the future of our projects, and needless to say, great satisfaction and eagerness to me and the rest of the team, that is the addition of Sergio Sánchez to Euforia Expeditions.

I have worked with Sergio for many years now, first as assistant for adventure races and sports activities in general, later on as director and producer of events. Sergio has an outstanding strive and determination, his Zen-like modus operandi and ability to transform dreams into palpable pieces of art is not only motivating, but invigorating to a team of adventure developers.

Sergio recently defended his thesis, which had an emphasis on sustainable tourism development and the introduction of projects in local communities seeking to take advantage of the resources available to better-maintain hydric resources, waste disposal and a more efficient use of alternative energy.

We receive Sergio with open arms and great enthusiasm, in hopes of sharing with all of you the flourishing projects Sergio has already started developing with Euforia.

Should you have any question/s regarding his projects and how you could get involved, send him an email, the guy fuels on adventure and effusive explanations no the reasons why project developments in communities must be regulated and contextualized to the needs for sustainability.

I encourage you to send him an email: sergio@euforiaexpeditions.com

The Coastal Challenge - Coverage

28 04 2008

Euforia Expeditions’ Andres Vargas and renowned Costa Rican photographer Sergio Pucci will step up to the task of filling what many adventure journalists would consider to be some big shoes as they compose the photography team for The Coastal Challenge, event organized by adventure photojournalist, Tim Holmstrom.

Holmstrom, race director for The Coastal Challenge is well known for his adventure racing photography, covering some of the most amazing adventure races around the world, including those organized by Mark Burnett and the roll of photography director for the Primal Quest from it’s first episode in 2002 up through Utah in 2006.
Since 2005, Tim packed his adventure camera and took on the task of organizing what is now considered to be one of the most grueling stage expedition runs in the planet.

Covering for Homstrom are Sergio Pucci, well known for his scenic publications and awarded for his breathtaking nature photography, alongside photojournalist and adventure race director Andres Vargas, taking on the task of covering this year’s edition.

Andres Vargas has organized several adventure races in Costa Rica, including the Costa Rica Solo Adventure Race organized in 2006, he leads expeditions and explorations throughout the country with Euforia Expeditions, an expedition tour operator business based in Costa Rica. Vargas writes for several online magazines and hosts an online adventure travel discussion forum for adventure racers and travelers looking to visit Central and South America, the wild side of adventure, amidst other responsible tourism projects in Costa Rica.

Sergio’s photo publications include: Costa Rican Beaches, a 200-photo publication on the country’s coasts; Guanacaste, photography of the northern Pacific territories, Gandoca Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge and Chirripo, a Journey to the Magical Mountain. His publications have shown people from all over the world the immense beauty visitors could encounter in this paradisiacal country.

“The Coastal Challenge sure is a wonderful journalistic experience, there is so much this country has to offer visually we’ll do our best to deliver some high grade eye-candy for those of you out there who have yet to visit Costa Rica for an adventure journey like this one. Keep an eye open for the footage, as we’ll keep all four eyes on the look for some action in this route of fire…” said Vargas on a short interview held earlier this afternoon.

You can expect more information about The Coastal Challenge within Euforia’s adventure travel blog (www.euforiaexpeditions.com) and at The Coastal Challenge’s website at: www.thecoastalchallenge.com.

Pescador - Isla Chira - Costa Rica

Taking under consideration the importance of a meet between the visitor and the communities Euforia has set forth to develop activities that will allow cultural unity striving towards the preservation of the true Costa Rican cultural identity, our beliefs, our customs, our smiles…

Be prepared to share your knowledge in local schools, a 15 minute introduction to your profession, lending a hand in on the construction of a new room for the local school, setting aside an hour of the stay in Costa Rica to help recollect garbage at a remote beach, setting the example for other visitors who might not be aware of the importance of being more than a tourist, being an active member within the society.

Not only will you share your culture with others while absorbing theirs, but you will be received with open arms and wide smiles for your willingness to be part of the culture.

Email us for more information on how you could be part of the true cultural experience.
